Dog Bite Takes Off Woman’s Finger Tip in Kearns

Two Bull Mastiffs broke through a neighborhood fence in Kearns, Utah on February 26, 2009. The dogs bit a woman’s finger off above the last knuckle. The Utah dog bite took place at 6085 South and 5185 West. KSL news reports that the woman was attempting to repair her fence when she was attacked. The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment. Kearns, Utah Girt Bit by a Pit Bull

A 4-year-old girl was attacked by a pit bull while walking past a home near 4100 West and 500 South on Monday, April 13, 2009. The dog came out from behind the bushes and the adults at the scene attempted to protect the 4-year old but dog still latched on to the girls leg. The pit bull’s owner came outside and was fortunately able to get the dog away from the girl, but the damage was already done. The Center for Disease Control is celebrating National Dog Bite Week (May 17-23) in an effort to increase awareness for dog bites. The CDC estimates that 4.5 million dog bites take place every year and the person most likely to be a Utah dog bite victim is a child.
